Emotions are a complex and fascinating aspect of our human experience.

We don’t really know where they come from, what they are, and whether or not we are truly in control of them.

But often we try to suppress or resist our emotions, particularly those we view as “negative,” in an attempt to make a situation or experience better for ourselves.

While a positive and unattached mind is essential for inner peace and true happiness, we must also remember that emotions are a natural part of who we are.

To not grieve when we lose a loved one or smile when we experience a moment of joy is to go against the very essence of our humanity.

Therefore, you should feel your emotions. Feel them and observe them fully.

Because feeling your emotions is not the same thing as being swayed by your emotions.

You can grieve and still not be paralyzed by grief. You can be joyful and still not be carried away by euphoria.

It is all about experiencing something for what it is at this very moment, without the commentary of the mind.

When you do this consistently, you begin to develop awareness of a deeper version of you.

And it is with this context that I invite you to immerse yourself in this poetic meditation.

Let the words speak to you on a deeper level and allow their wisdom to seamlessly enter your soul.

Feel your emotions.
Feel them sprouting from within,
like tiny seedlings reaching for the sun.
Don’t hold anything back.

One of the worst things you can do is suppress your emotions.
Or even worse, not be aware of them to begin with.

Of course, they are never really “your” emotions.
You are not happy or sad, hopeful or depressed.
These are passing states that flow through you,
In the ever-changing river of time.

Leave this rushing current for a moment.
Return to the still waters within yourself.
A place where no words or thoughts can define you.
This is where stress and suffering arise from:
A desire to control emotions that are always in flux.

The wise soul knows that emotions are not to be tamed, but observed.
Each emotion, if followed to its source,
leads us back to the space of quiet awareness preceding all thought.
Follow this path, and take care to not get lost
In the whirlwind of vibes and moods.
Many a well-intentioned mind have found themselves trapped in this abyss.
Don’t become one of them.

Feel your emotions.
Feel them, and then go even deeper.
Until you feel, you will not know.
Until you feel, you will not be free.
Emotions can never be controlled,
But we can choose to not be under their control.
This is true freedom.

So, observe the feeling of joy and sorrow.
Observe the sensation of love and fear.
But whatever you do, do not let them become your master.
For you are more than just a collection of emotions.
You are the entire universe experiencing life
Through a human mind and body.
Look through the veil of emotions, and you will see what you truly are.
You will become who you truly are.
