Meditate Earnestly to Reach Awakening
If you meditate earnestly, pure in mind and kind in deeds, leading a disciplined life in harmony with the dharma, you will grow in glory.
If you meditate earnestly, through spiritual disciplines you can make an island for yourself that no flood can overcome.
~ Buddha
There is such a thing as doing meditation the “right” way versus the “wrong” way.
This distinction has nothing to do with the length of meditation or the techniques being used.
Rather, it revolves around how sincere and earnest you actually are with this practice.
Someone may meditate for five minutes a day but be so aware and connected, while another may meditate for an hour but be lost in thoughts and remain uninterested in spiritual growth.
For it is through earnest meditation, as the Buddha wisely says, that we can “grow in glory” and make an island “no flood can overcome.”
Said another way, if we practice meditation earnestly and consistently, we can find peace and joy, no longer becoming swayed by the inevitable ups and downs of life.
