Why We Are So Attached — A Deeper Look at Attachment and How We Can Cure It

For centuries, mystics, sages, and gurus have identified attachment as the leading cause of all personal suffering. This could be attachment to a person or object; to a thought or belief; or even a goal or desired outcome.
Whatever — or whomever — the object of our attachment is, we all find ourselves entangled in this sticky mess from time to time. It can cause real havoc on our mental, emotional, and even physical well-being.
In fact, much of what think — and are attached to — transpires in our physiology. And the more attached we are to people, ideas, and things, the more our body begins to break down, become sick, and even shut down.
So, if we know how bad attachment can be, why don’t we just detach ourselves from all that we are attached to? It’s a good question, but it’s often easier said than done.
